ZOO SESSIONS

One-on-one production lessons with DeemZoo

Two decades of music, a decade of production and engineering, and a lot of hours figuring out what actually works. Now I sit down with you and we work on your music, in your project, at your pace.

From the novice beginner getting a lay of the land to the experienced producer trying to learn how to master their creations, I have lessons and tutorials for anyone interested.

My DAW of choice is FL Studio, but I regularly work with producers in other DAWs, since most of the fundamentals aren't specific to a single workstation. Fair warning for total beginners: if you're in FL Studio, I can show you the workflow directly, click for click. If you're in any other DAW, the concepts still carry over, but you'll spend some extra time translating them into your own setup.

All experience levels welcome

Pick your focus

Have a song with great arrangement and solid sounds, but your final product comes out quieter and less crisp than the pros? Look no further.

Mixing and mastering was another one of my weak spots early on, and it's now one of the areas I know best. I'll get your mixing fundamentals down to a science, and hand you a mastering method that's simple enough to use on every track while giving you full control over your output. Gain staging, low end, stereo width, dynamics, and loudness that holds up next to the releases you're chasing.

1. FL Studio Fluency

A lot of us landed in FL Studio for the same reasons. The price is reasonable, the updates are free for life, and the interface looks good enough that you actually want to sit in front of it. Then you open it up and realize there are six ways to do everything and no one tells you which one to use.

If you're anywhere from brand new to comfortable-but-still-guessing, I can show you the ropes and cut down the parts of the DAW that feel overwhelming. Signal flow, patcher, mixer routing, the piano roll tools nobody uses, and the shortcuts that turn a two-hour task into ten minutes.

2. Arrangement And Song Structure

4. Mixing And Mastering

Are you great at designing sounds but have no clue how to turn them into an actual song? Arrangement is one of my specialties. I've been composing music for over 20 years, and that's the part of my background that carried straight over into production.

I'll walk you through what it takes to get a track from the first eight bars to a finished layout. Intro, tension, drop, second half, outro, and everything in between. This is knowledge you carry into every project after, so we're building a process, not fixing one track.

3. Sound Design And Synthesis

Are you great at arrangement but want fuller, wider, more interesting sounds to fill it out? This one took me a while. Coming from composition, sound design was easily my weakest area when I started.

Over the last few years I've locked in on making sounds that are unique and authentic to my catalog, and I can get you there too. My main weapons are Serum, Serum 2, and Vital. We'll cover synthesis from the ground up, layering, resampling, movement and modulation, and how to develop a voice that people recognize as yours.
